Time makes a classic, and our Morning Glory floor lamp is celebrating its 30th birthday. Our creative director Albi Serfaty shines a light on the origins of our most iconic design.

Our most iconic lighting design continues to be our best selling product, appearing in the homes of Hollywood stars and top musicians as well as boutique hotels across the globe. We’ve handmade over 4,000 Morning Glory lamps in our atelier over the last 25 years and each is as unique today as our very first prototype.

Q: How has the Morning Glory evolved over the years?

A: Originally we didn’t use any laser cutting technology, so each Morning Glory was completely individual and had its own personality. It was very primitive in a way, and the design at the time used only incandescent lamp bulbs – very simple electricity.

Now it is more sophisticated: the base has become thinner and the opening wider to create a more sensual silhouette. We still make every Morning Glory floor lamp by hand, and our special Live and Let Dye technology means we can dye its silk shade any color or pattern. This makes it personal, fresh and relevant.

Q: Why do you think the Morning Glory has been so popular?

A: We are lucky that we own an iconic, timeless design like the Morning Glory. Its size, shape, materials and the wonderful soft light it produces make it the ultimate floor lamp. We recently refurbished one of the very first lamps we ever sold, and even though it was 25 years old, it still worked perfectly. We just updated it with a new silk shade. Now it’s set for another 25 years.

Anniversary Edition

Celebrating 30 years, Aqua Creations proudly unveils a limited-edition collection of only 30 pieces of the iconic Morning Glory Floor Lamp: 'The Anniversary Edition'.

The unique pieces are made from rare, raw and natural silk treads, especially woven for this occasion by handlooms in the South of India. The silk gets pleated by hand onto structure that has been carefully crafted by our artisans.  

The lamp is powered by 8 LED PCB of 11500 lumens in total. Each piece is signed and numbered, guaranteeing authenticity of the lamp. Available to order through the Aqua Creations website only.
